but my question is: is it neccessary to have so many emoticons?
i think it's regressive to use simplified pictures to express humans
feelings. there are so many words in our languages, and imho some
are totally waste of speech, but most of them do have it's advantages, don't they?. so when we are able to express feelings on the internet in words, why do so many people like a nearly unmanageable list of different icons for all kinds of feelings? words can be so beautiful, exact and descriptive that every attentive reader without lack of phantasie understands what you want to say to him.
i like emoticons, and i use them, too! but do they have to be so many?
i hope communication through the net is not to become oversimplified.
this would be a shame for live's masters of communication.
